EU officials arrive in Tunisia but not welcomed by Saied
A European Union delegation visited Tunisia on March 22nd, hours after the bloc’s foreign affairs chief Josep Borrell described the country’s political situation as “dire”. However, Tunisia’s President Kais Saied criticised the statement in a speech the day before, as the country celebrated the 67th anniversary of its independence from France.
“We reject any form of interference in our internal affairs and we are not under anyone’s tutelage,” Mr Saied said.
