Sisi sworn in for third time as Egypt’s President
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi was sworn in before parliament on April 2 after convincingly winning the Presidential election in December last year, Al Jazeera reported.
Sisi won 89.6% of the vote against a trio of little-known candidates in what was a highly divisive electoral campaign and barring a resignation, he will serve as leader until at least 2030.
His re-election, which pollsters said was almost certain prior to the vote, came despite the country having endured significant economic turmoil since he took office.
The President will embark on his third term in office, having first been elected in 2014 with a dubiously high 97% of ballots.
