Shark attack at Red Sea resort kills foreigner, injures another

Egypt’s ministry of environment said in statement on December 30th that a shark attack in the Red Sea resort town of Marsa Alam has killed one foreigner and injured another, according to CNN.
It was later revealed that both victims were Italian, with the survivor being named Giuseppe Fappani and the deceased as EU diplomat Gianluca Di Gioia, pictured.
The ministry statement said the injured tourist was taken Porto Ghalib hospital for treatment, and added that an emergency committee has been established to investigate the incident.
A deadly shark attack killed a Russian citizen in 2023 in the eastern tourist city of Hurghada, prompting nearby beaches to close.
