Top US officials double down on Trump’s Gaza “Riviera” comments

Top US government officials have doubled down on some of American president Donald Trump’s statements on resettling Palestinians and turning Gaza into the “Riviera of the Middle East”.
According to Al-Jazeera on February 6th, Secretary of State Marco Rubio said the idea “was not meant as hostile”, describing it as an “offer to rebuild and to be in charge of the rebuilding” and a “generous move”.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said Trump’s comments were historic and “outside of the box”, describing Gaza as a demolition site and unlivable.
