Trump to announce extensive Saudi arms package

The US is preparing to offer Saudi Arabia an arms deal worth over $100 billion during President Trump’s upcoming May visit to the kingdom.

According to Reuters, the package may potentially include Lockheed Martin C-130 aircraft, missiles, radars, and General Atomics drones, with participation from other major defence contractors such as Boeing, RTX Corp, and Northrop Grumman.

This follows the Biden administration’s unsuccessful attempt to finalise a defence pact with Riyadh that included Saudi Arabia normalising ties with Israel. The 2021 ban on offensive weapons sales to Saudi Arabia was lifted in 2024.
