Egypt rejects Algeria’s NARC military drill over Polisario

Egypt has rejected Algeria’s invitation to take part in the upcoming NARC military exercise, citing its refusal to participate alongside the Polisario Front, which Cairo views as a “terrorist” group, according to the Atlantic Defense Observatory.
The decision, reported on May 5th by Yabiladi and agencies, confirmed by a Moroccan security source, reflects growing strategic alignment between Egypt and Morocco, and comes amid escalating tensions between Algeria and the UAE, a key Egyptian ally.
Although Egypt had previously attended NARC meetings with the Polisario in 2023, the latest move signals a shift in Cairo’s regional posture.
