Fresh Israeli strikes hit Yemen and Syria amid Gaza crisis
As Gaza remains crippled under a disastrous aid blockade, Israel has continued its assault on the wider region with fresh strikes launched against Yemen and Syria.
Yemen has been struck with heavy bombardments by Israel, with six airstrikes hitting the port of Hodeidah on its western coast, as reported by the New Arab plus agencies on May 6, citing the Houthi-run TV channel Al-Masirah.
Israel has confirmed its responsibility for the strikes whilst the US has denied any involvement.
Reports have also been made of Israeli strikes on Syria, as well as on targets along the Syrian-Lebanese border where Israel claims to be the site of militant infrastructure.
Israel has been engaged in repeated strikes against Syria since the fall of the Assad regime, while the latest attacks on Yemen came the day after a Houthi missile landed near Israel’s main airport on Sunday, causing significant disruptions to flights.
Meanwhile, Israel also continues to block vital aid to Gaza amidst its recent announcement of a new plan to expand its war and invade new parts of the territory. Hamas in response have urged international action against Israel’s “hunger war”, whilst declaring there to be no point in continuing peace talks as long as such policies continue.
