Emergency supply platform launched by King Mohammed VI

Construction works for an emergency supply platform, which will span over 20 hectares in Rabat, have been launched by King Mohammed VI.
According to the North African Post, the new project is a part of a national emergency relief plan. Under the plan, each region of the kingdom will be set up with essential supplies in the event of disasters such as floods, earthquakes, chemical, industrial, or radiological risks.
Supplies for such disasters will include tents, blankets, beds, medicines, and foodstuffs to ensure preparation.
The platform is going to be worth 287 million dirhams, with the expected completion to be one year. Investing in this platform is a national plan to improve Morocco’s emergency response capabilities.
The total number of platforms which the kingdom is looking to build is 36 over 240 hectares across 12 Moroccan regions.
The strategic reserves of supplies and equipment enable quick deployment to disaster zones, providing essential rescue services, humanitarian aid, and medical care to affected communities, fulfilling His Majesty’s forward-thinking vision for emergency preparedness.
These emergency hubs will house 200,000 tents with essential bedding supplies, mobile food preparation facilities, family meal kits, water purification systems, and portable generators.
The stockpile includes specialised equipment for managing floods, earthquakes, landslides, and chemical/radiological incidents, complemented by six deployable field hospitals, creating a comprehensive disaster response infrastructure.
Dedicated specialists will oversee the maintenance of essential food supplies and pharmaceuticals under rigorous protocols, ensuring all materials meet international safety standards and regulatory requirements throughout their shelf life.
This strategic investment in emergency infrastructure complements Morocco’s broader development agenda, including the Casablanca airport expansion and construction of the world’s largest football stadium in Benslimane—all part of comprehensive preparations to successfully host the 2030 FIFA World Cup.
According to experts, these strategic platforms will substantially enhance Morocco’s emergency response capabilities, streamline aid delivery, and bolster the nation’s resilience against diverse crises while modernising critical disaster management infrastructure.
