Former PM of DR Congo found guilty of corruption

Augustin Matata Ponyo, former prime minister of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, was sentenced to a decade’s imprisonment on March 20 over corruption charges.
According to BBC News, the former PM was found Guilty by the Congolese Constitutional Court of embezzling $245 million in public funds from various agricultural projects.
Matata will also be required to perform forced labour throughout his sentence – a practice that, while illegal in most countries, remains permitted in the DRC.
