Death toll in Gaza climbs over 54,900 as war escalates

A total of 47 people have been killed and 38 have sustained wounds in just one day in Gaza, as the death toll increases due to Israel’s ongoing military assault, Middle East Eye reported on June 9th.
Reportedly, 54,927 people have died and 126,615 have sustained wounds in the Gaza Strip since the beginning of the Israel-Gaza conflict in October 2023.
Meanwhile, the escalation of the turmoil in Gaza is prompting western intervention. At 5:02pm on June 8th, the UK’s Cyprus base RAF Akrotiri dispatched a spy plane to oversee Gaza as an aid boat was facing interception from Israel, The National reported.
