Libya forms committees to address violent clashes

The UN mission in Libya has on the 7th of June commended the establishment of two presidential committees addressing the recent violent clashes in Tripoli.
According to the New Arab plus agencies, one committee will work to prevent fighting and protect civilians, while the other will investigate human rights concerns in detention facilities.
The move comes after deadly fighting in May between rival armed groups left at least eight people dead. Libya remains deeply divided since the 2011 NATO-backed revolt that overthrew Muammar Gaddafi, with competing administrations in Tripoli and the east.
The UN stressed that the committees represent a crucial step towards meaningful reform.
