Food aid cuts deepen Sudan crisis
Funding cuts to the UN’s World Food Programme (WFP) could push millions into extreme hunger, with Sudan potentially bearing the brunt, according to a report from The New Arab and agencies on October 15th.
Famine was first identified in Sudan in 2024, and extreme food shortages have led to the number of children suffering from malnutrition doubling since last year in North Darfur.
It was reported on October 6th that community kitchens in the Sudanese city of El-Fasher were forced to close due to a shortage of food supplies.
