Spain: Authorities seize 20 tons of cannabis from Morocco
On October 29th, the Spanish authorities revealed that 20 tonnes of cannabis were seized, after they were dissimulated in trucks containing peppers from Morocco. Alongside the seizure, 20 people were arrested for belonging to criminal networks that were also dismantled by the authorities during their operations, according to Algeria state news outlet AL24 News.
The cannabis was concealed behind crates of green peppers, and it made its way from Tangiers, Morocco to Algeciras, Spain where it arrived by sea. While they were being unloaded for wider distribution, the drugs were intercepted in Granada and Cadiz after they were dispatched in trucks from Algeciras.
Twenty individuals were arrested and are still detained as they await their trial for “for drug trafficking and membership in a criminal organisation”.
