Human Rights Watch (HRW) has condemned the violent crackdown on protestors in Tanzania amid a contentious election, as reported by Africa News via AP on November 4th.

An estimated 700 people have been killed in protests over the October 29th election, where President Samia Suluhu Hassan banned opposition candidates from standing.

However, information is difficult to verify because foreign journalists have been banned, and according to HRW, “internet blockades” are in place.
