Algeria, Egypt and Tunisia call for Libyan parties to unite
In Algiers during a trilateral meeting, Tunisia, Egypt and Algeria’s foreign ministers urged all Libyan parties to participate in the UN-sponsored political settlement process to put an end to the ongoing and violent rift in Libya, according to TRT Afrika on November 6th.
The North African foreign ministers voiced the need for any resolution to be entirely initiated and led by Libyans without foreign interference in order to ensure the state’s sovereignty, institutional integrity and unity.
Their joint statement also called for Libyan factions to prioritise Libya’s national interests and to overcome issues that have not allowed nationwide elections.
