Sudan: fighting continues despite truce plan efforts
Fighting is continuing in Sudan’s army-controlled capital Khartoum between the army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) despite the paramilitary group backing a US-endorsed humanitarian truce, according to France 24 via AFP.
The US-led international mediators have yet to receive the government’s response, however, experts are also expressing their doubts that the RSF will not truly adhere to a truce since they announced plans to capture more territory.
The humanitarian truce plan is essential to deliver life-saving aid to help resolve humanitarian issues in the nation – after years of conflict – to provide relief to the ongoing famine and to assist the nearly 12 million people who have been displaced.
