France has now urged its citizens to leave Mali to avoid being blocked in the country amid the Al-Qaeda jihadist group’s fuel blockade, which has raised security concerns, according to BBC plus agencies on November 7th.

Since the fuel blockade aims to destabilise the Malian government, France has become the latest country to advise its nationals to leave Mali while commercial flights are still available, after the US also urged its citizens to leave on October 28th.

The jihadist blockade has been ongoing for two months since September 9th, and it has greatly impacted Mali’s economy and the neighbouring regions with fuel shortages that have put life on hold, even closing schools.
