Israel: bill proposing execution for terrorism passes reading
An amendment urged by Israeli National Security minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, proposing that those convicted of “terrorism” should be executed, has passed its first reading in the Knesset, according to The National on November 11th.
The National Security Committee of Israel approved the bill and stated that the aim is to “cut off terrorism” and “create a heavy deterrent”.
While the death penalty already exists in the Middle Eastern country, it has not been applied since 1962, when the execution of Nazi criminal Adolf Eichmann took place.
