US military base to be built in Gaza, Israeli media says

The United States is reportedly planning to build a military base in Gaza to host an international peacekeeping force, according to Middle East Eye via Yedioth Ahronoth on November 11th.

The news comes as Turkey is working towards plans for the deployment of at least 2,000 soldiers to protect civilians in Gaza. The peacekeeping force is part of Trump’s wider peace initiative for the territory, which aims to oversee the rebuilding of Gaza and its governance during the “transition period”.

While a ceasefire came into affect on October 10th, Israel has refused to withdraw from Gaza and has continued military strikes, causing Palestinian deaths.
