Hamas confirms death of spokesman Abu Obeida

The military wing of Hamas, the al-Qassam Brigades, have confirmed that their spokesman, known as Abu Obeida, was killed in an Israeli strike in Gaza City during August, reports Middle East Eye on December 29th.

They also confirmed his identity for the first time, naming him as Huthaifa Samir al-Kahlout, as he had never shown his face.

Israel had previously announced they had killed him. His successor, whose identity is not known, is using the same nom de guerre.
