Head of the Moroccan government and leader of the National Rally of Independents (RNI), Aziz Akhannouch, said on 11th January he will not stand for a third term as party president, according to a report in Moroccan government-friendly Hespress.

The RNI leader confirmed his leadership of the party will end at the upcoming national congress on 7th February, with a leadership contest expected during the congress.

Akhannouch, one of the richest men in Africa, was a controversial choice as PM as his business background didn’t live up to expectations in dealing with youth unemployment or boosting the business sector in general.
