Senegal’s Pape Gueye scored the winning goal against Morocco at the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) final, held at Rabat’s Prince Moulay Abdallah Stadium on January 18th, as reported by The Guardian and agencies on the same day.

In a game filled with drama, Morocco’s Brahim Diaz failed with an audacious chipped penalty attempt in the final minutes of regular time after the Senegal team temporarily left the pitch in protest at referee Jean-Jacques Ndala’s controversial penalty decision.

The penalty was preceded only moments before by a similarly contentious call to disallow a Senegal opening goal for a perceived foul on Achraf Hakimi.
