Ishowspeed makes surprise appearance at AFCON final
Fans around the stadium leapt to their feet as world-famous youtuber and streamer, Ishowspeed, real name Darren Watkins Jr, appeared at the AFCON 2025 final dressed as the tournament’s lion mascot, according to a report in The New Arab on December 19th.
The final at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium marked the last stop of the influencers African tour, which included visits to 20 countries across the continent.
Speed, who holds a YouTube channel with over 50 million subscribers, said the purpose of his closely watched trip was to “show the world what Africa really is.”
