The United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) said discussions on the security and economic tracks of the Structured Dialogue are continuing as part of a comprehensive, Libyan-led political process, as reported by the Libyan News Agency on January 21.

The talks aim to address obstacles to elections and propose practical short and long term solutions to advance stability through unifying Libya’s fragmented institutions.

The talks juxtapose recent protests outside UNSMIL offices in Libya, where demonstrators have voiced growing resistance to the UN and foreign intervention at large, whilst calling for a fully sovereign, Libyan-led political process.
