Libya moves to improve control of oil and gas sector
Libyan Prime Minister Abdulhamid Dbeibah chaired a high-level meeting on January 21 to review the management of the country’s oil and gas sector and to strengthen oversight of fuel supply operations, as reported by Ean Libya.
The meeting focused on ensuring regular fuel flow, improving transparency, and developing mechanisms to prevent bottlenecks, smuggling, and financial irregularities through the formation of a joint team to assess Libya’s national needs.
The move appears to be in response to the recent condemnation by the eastern-based House of Representatives, which critiqued the agreements signed by Dbeibah’s government that involve Libya’s national resources.
