Congo army reclaim strategic town post rebels’ infiltration
The Congolese army was seen returning to its positions in the strategic eastern town of Uvira, which the M23 rebels captured, Maghrebi Week reported on January 26th.
The town, which served as a base for the state-appointed government, was captured by the rebel army in December, which was a blow to the Trump-mediated Congo-Rwanda peace deal.
Heavy fighting continues along the borders of Uvira, while African leaders call for renewed peace talks in Doha between the two parties.
