Morocco launches joint military committee with Ethiopia
Morocco and Ethiopia have held their first joint military committee in Addis Ababa in the presence of senior army officials, following agreements signed in June 2025, reports Maghrebi Week on 27th January.
The two countries have been building a steady diplomatic and economic relationship for the past 10 years, with exports between them now above $22 million per year.
Morocco is a growing influence in Africa with large investments in banking, telecommunications and agriculture, and Ethiopia represents a key partner in the Horn of Africa. A joint fertilizer plant project in Ethiopia, using Moroccan phosphate, has become a flagship project for Africa, representing south-south collaboration.
