US-Iran nuclear negotiations restart amid Trump’s threats

Iranian and U.S. officials said on February 2 that talks on Tehran’s nuclear program will resume. Donald Trump quickly weighed in, warning that “bad things” could happen if an agreement is not reached, as reported by Maghrebi Week on February 9th.

Following the crackdown by law enforcement forces on citizens who took to the streets to protest against the government in Tehran, the U.S. president has repeatedly threatened to intervene militarily against the Islamic Republic if the repression did not stop.

However, Trump’s threats of military intervention have so far amounted to nothing more than words.
