Libya-US geological talks target mining sector growth
Libya’s Tripoli-based Government of National Unity (GNU) said on February 12th that it held a virtual meeting with the United States Geological Survey (USGS) to discuss developing geological data and strengthening the mining sector, according to Libya Herald.
The meeting, which involved the Prime Minister’s Initiatives Executive Team and the National Mining Corporation, focused on geological survey programmes, data-sharing, capacity building and skills development.
The announcement came the same day local media reported that the United States had reinstated its Level 4 travel advisory for Libya, the most severe warning, advising citizens not to travel due to security risks.
