Morocco boosts German market push at Berlin travel fair
Morocco is expanding tourism promotion in Germany as it seeks to attract more visitors from the country, reports the pro-Moroccan Yabiladi and agencies on March 4th.
The Moroccan National Tourist Office (ONMT) is taking part in the 60th edition of the ITB Berlin travel trade show, running from March 3rd to 5th.
ONMT Director General Achraf Fayda and Hamid Bentahar, president of the National Tourism Confederation, are leading the Moroccan delegation. Morocco’s ambassador to Germany, Zohour Alaoui, is also in attendance.
The delegation is meeting German tour operators, travel agencies and industry representatives during the event. The meetings focus on promoting Morocco as a destination for German travellers and strengthening cooperation with companies operating in the German market.
Morocco has set up a 1,000-square-metre pavilion at the fair, with more than 140 tourism professionals taking part. These include representatives from several regions such as Oriental, Fès-Meknès and Souss-Massa.
Germany is considered an important tourism market for Morocco. In 2025, more than 930,000 Germans visited the country, an increase of 11% compared with the previous year. Germany is Morocco’s seventh-largest tourism market, accounting for about 5% of visitors to the country.
Several agreements have already been announced during the event, including deals with German airlines Condor, Eurowings and Discover Airlines to increase flight capacity and open new routes.
Royal Air Maroc is also expanding its German network with new routes linking Nador to Frankfurt and Düsseldorf. The airline has also recently launched a Casablanca–Munich connection. Overall air capacity between Morocco and Germany is expected to rise by 34% for the 2025–2026 season.
ONMT is also working with major tour operators in the German market. It continues its cooperation with TUI and has signed an agreement with DER, Germany’s second-largest tour operator.
Morocco has recently expanded its engagement with European partners across other economic areas and is preparing to host a French trade mission to strengthen commercial ties between businesses in the two countries. This tourism promotion in Germany forms part of this wider outreach in European markets.
