A Libyan political party has issued a strongly worded condemnation of what it described as American and Israeli aggression against Iran, warning that the escalation signals a dangerous shift in the global order.

In a statement the People’s Voice Party denounced the alleged actions against the Islamic Republic of Iran as a “full-fledged crime”, claiming the justifications offered for the aggression were weak and unconvincing, as reported by Libya Eye on March 5.

Joint US-Israeli strikes on targets in Iran have plunged the Gulf into a regional war, with Tehran launching waves of missile and drone attacks in response against Israeli positions and US-linked sites across the Gulf.

Iranian authorities have declared the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, a vital maritime route for global energy shipments through which 80% of the worlds oil supply flows, warning that vessels attempting to pass could be targeted.

The disruption to the narrow passage, has intensified fears of a global economic crisis and further military escalation across the Middle East. With global oil and gas prices soaring, alternatives hydrocarbon producing countries stand to benefit, with Libya’s sweet light crude likely to be a preferred option as global consumer demand patterns shift and adjust to the conflict in the Gulf.

According to the statement by the People’s Voice Party, the real objective behind the confrontation has little to do with the publicly stated reasons. Instead, it argued the actions are linked to plans to reshape the region through what it described as the “New Middle East” project.

In its statement, the party claimed that this project seeks to expand the borders of the State of Israel across a vast area stretching “from the Nile to the Euphrates”. It further alleged that decision-making in the US is heavily influenced by what it referred to as an evangelical Christian Zionist lobby.

The group said this lobby promotes beliefs connected to the anticipated return of Christ and the establishment of a “Greater State of Israel”. It argued that such ideological influence plays a significant role in shaping American foreign policy.

These claims have been further validated following a report by the Military Religious Freedom Foundation (MRFF). The MRFF stated that more than 200 troops from dozens of US bases reported being told by US army officials that the conflict was linked to biblical prophecy and the end times, as reported by The Guardian.

The complaints allege that certain officers referenced the Book of Revelation and described the war as a step toward Armageddon and the return of Jesus Christ. One soldier said a superior claimed that Donald Trump had been “anointed by Jesus” to lead the confrontation.

Concluding its remarks, the People’s Voice Party said that if Iran were to fall, it would weaken the prospects for sovereign states across the region, including in parts of the Gulf, and dramatically alter the balance of power in the Middle East.

Libya’s Grand Mufti, Sadiq Al‑Ghariani, echoed the remarks made by the Libyan party, saying that the confrontation between Iran and Israel represents a broader struggle involving a Muslim state facing Israeli aggression, arguing that Iran has the right to defend itself and strike military targets, as reported by The Libya Observer on March 5.
