Algeria took part in an international energy transition exhibition in Rimini, Italy, from March 4th to 6th, according to Algerian government-friendly AL24 News.

Key – The Energy Transition Expo, is one of the main European events dedicated to energy transition and clean technologies. It brings together companies, researchers and investors which present solutions which intend to support decarbonisation and the development of renewable energy.

The Renewable Energy Development Centre (CDER), took part alongside several Algerian businesses representing different renewable energy sectors. The delegation’s participation was organised by the Directorate General for Scientific Research and Technological Development under the Algerian Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.

During the event, CDER presented research products and development projects carried out by its subsidiaries, including those linked to solar energy.

The centre also highlighted the work of Algerian researchers and engineers developing systems and applications for energy projects that meet international technological standards.

At the Algerian pavilion, CDER showcased quality control systems developed through its technological platforms. These included systems for solar energy testing, calibration of solar radiation measurement instruments and tests assessing the quality and efficiency of solar water heaters.

These systems gained the interests of foreign companies and engineering firms seeking to improve solar power plant design through precise and reliable measurements.

The exhibition also allowed Algerian companies to hold meetings with foreign counterparts to discuss cooperation and exchange expertise in renewable energy and energy efficiency.

The annual event covers several areas of the energy transition sector, including solar and wind power, energy storage, energy efficiency, electric mobility and smart city technologies. It also features conferences and professional meetings on developments in the global energy sector.

Algeria has expanded cooperation with international partners in the energy sector in recent years. The country has signed agreements with Germany on energy cooperation and held discussions with Ethiopia on trade collaboration in the sector.

Renewable energy cooperation with European partners has also included initiatives such as a joint workshop with the European Union on renewable energy expertise. Algeria has also sought cooperation with international organisations on energy infrastructure security.
