Two people have been sentenced to two-and-a-half years in prison by a Spanish court for being involved in migrant crossings from southern Morocco to the Canary Islands, according to the Moroccan government-friendly Yabiladi on March 6th.
The court in Las Palmas found the pair guilty of facilitating irregular migration as part of a network operating along Morocco’s southern coast.
Reportedly, the group organised at least four sea journeys between September 2022 and July 2023. The attempted crossings left 96 people dead.
