The UN has called for greater participation by Libyan women in public affairs, according to The Libya Gazette on March 9th.

Young women in Libya were invited to attend a session on March 9th, organised by the Libyan Women’s Gathering, to discuss governance, the economy, security, human rights, and national reconciliation.

The initiative follows the UN’s Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) ‘s work to increase women’s participation in political processes. The mission said broader inclusion of women in political discussions and decision-making could support reforms and contribute to national dialogue and reconciliation.
