Morocco court jails driver over fatal police crash
A court in Sidi Ifni sentenced a bus driver to four months in prison after a road accident that killed four Moroccan police officers, reports Moroccan government-friendly Yabiladi on 11 March.
The crash occurred on 21 February on the road linking Sidi Ifni and Tiznit when the bus overturned. The vehicle had been transporting national security personnel to Agadir to help secure a football match at Adrar Stadium.
The court also fined the driver 4,000 dirhams and suspended his driving licence for one year. Investigations by the Royal Gendarmerie and a technical inspection found the crash was caused by speeding.
