Ukraine sends anti-drone teams to work in Gulf states
Ukrainian specialists trained to counter drone attacks are working with security teams in Qatar, the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia, The New Arab reported on 12 March.
The teams consist of former Ukrainian soldiers and security specialists who gained experience defending Ukrainian cities and infrastructure from Russian drone strikes during the war. Some are now providing training and technical support to security services in Gulf states seeking to strengthen their defences.
The specialists are helping local teams detect and neutralise drones using equipment and tactics developed during the war in Ukraine. Kyiv uses a mix of cheap drone interceptors, electronic jamming tools and anti-aircraft intercept Russian drones. The work reflects growing interest in counter-drone technology, as unmanned aircraft are increasingly used in modern conflict.
