Guterres warns of arms and oil violations in Libya
UN Secretary-General António Guterres warned of continued violations of the arms embargo and the ongoing exploitation of the Libya’s oil resources.
According to the Libya Gazette on 20 April, Guterres highlighted the persistent influx of weapons into the country despite international restrictions, as well as the misuse of Libya’s energy wealth.
Guterres’s warning on arms embargo violations and resource exploitation encapsulates this reality. The continued flow of weapons and the competition over oil revenues not only fuel instability but also undermine any meaningful path toward unification.
