A strike from Israel killed at least three people in Gaza on April 24th, highlighting continued violence despite an existing ceasefire between Israel and the militant group Hamas, according to a report published by Al-Monitor via Reuters on the same date.

Medical workers and eyewitnesses reported that the strike struck a busy area near a bank where local police officers were situated. Gaza’s interior ministry stated that the attack specifically targeted a police patrol. It was not immediately clear whether members of the police force were among those killed.

The Israeli military did not provide an immediate response to a request for comment concerning the attack. However, previous reports have indicated that Israel has increased strikes against Gaza’s police forces, with authorities linking them to Hamas.

Violence has continued in the region despite a ceasefire that took effect in October 2025. According to local medical sources, at least 790 Palestinians have been killed since the agreement began. But Israel reports that militants have killed four Israeli soldiers.

Both sides have accused each other of violating the ceasefire terms. The broader conflict between Israel and Hamas began after the attacks of October 7th 2023, when militants launched a large-scale assault on Israeli territory that killed 1,200 people, according to Israeli authorities.

Since then, the war has caused widespread destruction and heavy civilian casualties across the Gaza Strip. Palestinian health authorities have estimated that over 72,000 people in Gaza have been killed since the conflict began, with civilians representing the majority of victims.

Overall, the latest strike illustrates the fragile nature of the ceasefire and the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza. Continued attacks and retaliatory actions suggest that achieving a lasting peace agreement remains a major challenge for both sides.
