A drone attack from the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) has killed seven people and has injured 22 in North Kordofan’s city of El Obeid, according to the Middle East Monitor via Anadolu on April 25th.

The drone attack hit the residential areas in North Kordofan. The Sudan Doctors Network denounced the “the deliberate targeting of densely populated neighborhoods” and asserted that the attack intended to cause as much casualties as possible, “rather than achieving military objectives.”

The network has pointed the finger at the RSF for the attack. However the paramilitary group is yet to comment. The network has called on the international community and humanitarian groups to try and stop the RSF from carrying out acts of violence and to urge the RSF to safeguard civilians. Authorities have also been urged by the network to aid health centres in El Obeid with medical provisions and staff in order to tackle the increasing amount of casualties.

All the while, the Sudan war has spilled over into neighbouring Chad. In mid-March in the border town of Tiné, a drone attack from Sudan caused the deaths of 20 in the town.

The Sudan war has escalated since it broke out during April 2023 and the drone attacks have become a prevalent aspect of the war, leading to many civilians leaving the country to escape the violence, as the humanitarian crisis in the country worsens.

On December 28th 2025, the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) said that more than 1,200 people were newly displaced from Sudan’s South and North Kordofan, as a result of ongoing insecurity.

The IOM stated that the displacement of 780 individuals from the South Kordofan city of Dilling between December 24th and 26th 2025 was recorded by its field displacement units.
