Is the France-Algeria feud finally over?
France and Algeria are patching up a two-year rift, according to a May 11th report from the Qatar-owned outlet The New Arab. French Defence Minister Alice Rufo met President Tebboune in Algiers on Saturday to boost security and migration ties.
The move could signal an end to the dispute over France’s 2024 declaration of support for Morocco’s Western Sahara plan. As a result, France’s Ambassador has returned to his post. In a major breakthrough, jailed French journalist Christophe Gleizes will also get his first consular visit since his 2025 arrest.
