Turkish authorities recently arrested a major Moroccan drug trafficker, Mohamed Boulakhrif, during a raid in Istanbul’s Şişli district, Turkish pro-government daily newspaper Daily Sabah reported on May 13th.

The joint operation was launched after intelligence placed Boulakhrif in the city, where authorities allege he used encrypted communication applications to secretly run his narcotics operations.

Boulakhrif is currently being held at police headquarters for questioning and is expected to be transferred to a Repatriation Center under the Provincial Directorate of Migration Management ahead of formal deportation proceedings.
