120 migrants rescued near Ajdabiya amid Libya trafficking
On 13 May, 120 migrants were saved from a trafficking site near Ajdabiya in eastern Libya, as reportde by Maghrebi Week on 18 May. Libya remains divided between competing authorities and dozens of armed groups that function with varying degrees of autonomy.

This fragmentation has created fertile ground for the trafficking economy. Control over migration routes has become a major source of revenue for armed actors across both western and eastern Libya. Migrants and asylum seekers, fleeing the war in Sudan, crossing into Libya face abuse not only from criminal gangs but also from armed factions managing border crossings and detention systems.
