Gaza artists honour Spanish footballer with powerful wartime mural

Palestinian artists in Gaza have painted a mural of Spanish footballer Lamine Yamal on the side of a bomb-damaged building, in a striking tribute to the teenager’s public show of solidarity with Palestine during Barcelona’s La Liga victory, reports Maghrebi Week on May 18th.

Yamal drew widespread attention earlier this week after waving a Palestinian flag from an open-top bus during Barcelona’s title parade through the city.

For the two Gaza-based artists, Obay Al Qershalli and Ahmed Al Halabi, the moment represented a rare gesture of visibility and support for Palestinians amid the ongoing war.
