Moroccan singer sentenced to five years in French rape case
A French court in Draguignan has sentenced 41-year-old Moroccan pop singer Saad Lamjarred to five years in prison for raping a young woman in a Saint-Tropez hotel room in 2018, Hespress English reports via AFP on May 15th.
The verdict followed a closed-door trial at the Draguignan assize court, where prosecutors had pushed for a 10-year sentence.
The court also ordered the singer to pay €30,000 in damages and €5,000 in legal fees to the plaintiff, who met Lamjarred at a nightclub before the incident.
