Morocco’s King Mohammed VI to visit France for bilateral treaty
Morocco has announced that King Mohammed VI is expected to visit France shortly on an official trip, his first since 2000, reports Jeune Afrique on 20th May.
The visit will be marked by the signature of a bilateral treaty, a significant event as this will be France’s first high level agreement with a non-European country.
French-Moroccan relations are going from strength to strength after a period of tensions; since France expressed its support for Morocco’s autonomy plan for the Western Sahara in 2024, both countries have strengthened their economic and cultural ties. France is now Morocco’s first foreign investor, with economic exchanges now close to $15 billion per year.
