Libya, Algeria and Tunisia’s treaty over Saharan water

Algeria, Tunisia and Libya have entered a partnership to share Saharan water, as reported by Maghrebi Week on the 25th May.

For years, he North-Western Sahara Aquifer System has been exploited and utilised unfairly. However, this agreement highlights the importance of uniting and working across regions to use the system moderately.

The system is constructed to reduce pollution and exploitation of the water through monitoring and management. This is justly shared between the three countries.
