Libya targets boat infrastructure behind migrant crossings
Libyan authorities dismantled a clandestine boat building facility in Tajoura, east of Tripoli, allegedly used to prepare vessels for migrant smuggling across the Mediterranean, as reported by Libya Gazette on June 1st.
The raid was carried out by Tripoli’s Anti Illegal Immigration Agency after intelligence identified the site as a hub for manufacturing and equipping boats used for irregular crossings.
The operation marks a strong attempt in Libya’s migration control approach, moving from interception after departure toward targeting the infrastructure that makes crossings possible.
