Mauritania takes precautionary measures against Ebola 

Currently, the Mauritian government has altered civilians about the recent Ebola cases, according to The North African Post on May 29th. In numerous North African countries, a declared outbreak of  the disease was confirmed across the region. This has alarmed Mauritanians, over the posing threats that Ebola could bring.

This has influenced the leaders of Mauritania to take part in precautionary measures. One of the main aims is to protect the public and to fortify national health security. Recently, the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Interior, Health, and Equipment and Transport, authorities, obtained protective measures; actions. Border health controls have developed stronger defences, to mitigate spread across other countries.

Additionally, the local authorities later verified the reinforcement of a national emergency task force. This would be thoroughly monitored, assessed and actions taken when fundamental. In collaboration with Mauritanian diplomatic missions, the action will combine representatives to record and track the ordeal. They will assure that accurate and appropriate information is spreading.

Leaders have prompted inhabitants living or travelling through afflicted areas, to remain keen and observant in conforming with the updated health guidance. This will benefit locals’ physical health and personal wellbeing. The government confirmed that the operation will be in action, until further notice. Presently, officials have emphasised that the main goals are to: protect the public, increase border resilience and to prepare for potential setbacks.

The current situation of the Ebola outbreak is affecting many regions across the continent. Cases of the disease have soared due to cross-border transmissions and close contact. Reportedly in Africa this year, there are a confirmed 1,200 cases and around 250 deaths. Ebola can be fatal without necessary health care or support, with around 50% survival rate if untreated. However, with the authorities and governments intervention, this will save and support  lives around Mauritania.
