Algeria kicks off election campaign ahead of July 2 vote

Algeria’s legislative election campaign is now officially underway, according to the Algeria Press Service, reporting on June 9th, giving candidates roughly three weeks to make their case to voters before polling day.

The national election authority, ANIE, puts the registered electorate at 24.7 million — 23.8 million inside the country and just over 854,000 living abroad.
