Six German firms to explore Algeria’s auto sector

A delegation of six German industrial firms will arrive in Algeria in late June or early July to explore investment and subcontracting opportunities within the country. 

According to the Algerian outlet Observalgerie, reporting on June 14th, the trade mission is scheduled from June 28th to July 3rd, 2026. It is organised by the Algerian-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (AHK Algérie) alongside Enviacon International. The initiative has backing from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK). It marks an effort by Berlin to place its car parts manufacturers into the North African market.

The delegation’s primary focus is the identification of local partners to build a domestic automotive supply chain. The visiting companies specialise in mechanical components, advanced factory equipment, and industrial engineering services. Industry roundtable discussions in Algiers will focus on establishing Tier-1 and Tier-2 supplier networks, aligning local manufacturers with European quality standards, and securing international industrial certifications.

The timing of this visit matches a push by the Algerian government to cut down on fully built vehicle imports. Algiers has ordered that car makers must source over 30% of their parts locally by the end of 2026. This target will rise to 40% in the following years.

These strict rules have already brought international car brands into the country. The Stellantis factory in Tafraoui, near Oran, is currently the main hub for regional supply networks. Furthermore, the German brand Opel, which is part of the Stellantis group, recently announced plans to build its own assembly factory in Algeria. This creates a clear entry point for German equipment makers.

To launch the trade mission, AHK Algérie will host a conference on June 29th, 2026, at the Hyatt Regency in Algiers. The event will bring together German firms, Algerian public officials, and private local business owners. They will discuss technical partnerships, knowledge sharing, and factory logistics.
